May 20—For the second straight weekend, Aiken County will become the center of the South Carolina political universe as the Aiken County Republican Party holds its Rally In The Alley.

Aiken County Republican Party Chairwoman Debbie Epling said Wednesday afternoon that Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, the running mate of S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster, would attend the event. McMaster's competition for the Republican nomination, Harrison "Trucker Bob" Musselwhite is also expected to attend, Epling said.

Secretary of State Mark Hammond and his competition, Keith Blanding, may show up as well. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in The Alley in downtown Aiken.

As are Attorney General Alan Wilson and his challenger Lauren Martel.

Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers may also attend the event. His competition for the Republican nomination, Bill Bledsoe and Bob Rozier, are expected to attend.

S.C. Rep. Bart Blackwell, R-Aiken, and his competition for the House District 81 Republican nomination, Betsy Lamb, as well as Kizzi Gibson and Ellen Weaver, two of the candidates for the Republican nomination for state superintendent of education, are also expected to be at the event.

Several candidates seeking seats on the Aiken County Council are planning to attend the rally.

The event will also feature free coffee and donuts and patriotic shopping.

Last weekend, the Aiken County Democratic Party held a blue bash event that featured gubernatorial candidates Joe Cunningham and Mia McLeod and several other candidates.
