Reports: Clemson director of athletics headed to Miami

Dan Radakovich, who has been director of athletics at Clemson since 2012, is a leading candidate to become the next athletic director at the University of Miami, according to multiple reports.

Citing a source, The Oregonian is reporting that Radakovich is set to replace Blake James, who was fired on Nov. 16 after 8½ years at Miami.

Radakovich, a 63-year-old native of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, received an MBA at Miami, where he also launched his career in athletic administration, serving as athletic business manager from 1983 to 1985.

He also served in administrative athletic department roles at Long Beach State, South Carolina, American, LSU and Georgia Tech.

Radakovich, who makes $800,000 per year at Clemson, has presided over a successful period at Clemson that includes two national championships in football. He also served on the College Football Playoff Selection Committee for four years.

According to the Miami Herald, Miami also is pursuing Miami native and Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal to take over the Hurricanes’ football program despite the fact that Manny Diaz remains the team’s coach.
