Report: WCPO's Julie O'Neill leaves station after 27 years

A longtime local television news anchor has left her post after more than two decades, according to a report from WVXU's John Kiesewetter.

Julie O'Neill, who anchored the morning show at WCPO-TV, "Good Morning Tri-State," was with the station 27 years. Kiesewetter's report said she chose to leave after being told she would no longer co-anchor weekday mornings. WVXU reported staffers were notified of her departure in an email Tuesday morning.

According to her WCPO bio, which has been taken down, she was hired at the station in 1995. She also reported at TV stations in Florida and Louisiana before coming to Cincinnati, her LinkedIn says.

She graduated from Louisiana State University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in music. She previously attended the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music where she majored in musical theater.

O'Neill and WCPO management could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
