There are a lot of changes happening at the Jacksonville Jaguars headquarters and there will probably be a lot of departures with Urban Meyer now in the building. One of those changes took place Monday in the front office, as it was revealed that Jags special assistant to the general manager, John Idzik, parted ways with the team.

With former general manager Dave Caldwell being fired in November, Idzik, who was known as his cap specialist, decided to leave the team as well.

Idzik was brought into the organization in 2015 after previously spending time as the New York Jets’ general manager from 2013-14. He was well known for his work in the offseason as he was tasked with constructing some of the major player contracts.

During Idzik’s tenure, the Jags signed major players like Calais Campbell, Malik Jackson, and A.J. Bouye out of free-agency to name a few. They also extended notable draft picks like Myles Jack, Brandon Linder, and Marqise Lee.

Meyer told the media that he studied a variety of things about the league last year including how the salary cap works. It’s unknown if he will replace Idzik, but one would have to think it’s likely for the simple fact that Meyer is new to the NFL. Meyer is in the process of appointing new people to several roles and we’ll be sure to provide an update for any front office hirings.
