Report: Eagles' Malik Jackson 'expected' to miss season with foot injury
Defensive tackle Malik Jackson was one of the Philadelphia Eagles’ big offseason additions, as he agreed to a three-year contract at the start of free agency.
But the Eagles are expected to be without Jackson for a considerable amount of time, if not the season.
Lisfranc injury to blame
Via Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Jackson is “expected to miss the season” after suffering a Lisfranc injury on Sunday against Washington.
Jackson will undergo surgery next week.
Lisfranc injuries occur in the midfoot, and involve many bones and ligaments; severe injuries can require surgery and months of healing time.
Eagles coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Monday that Jackson, an eight-year veteran who was a Pro Bowler two years ago, had suffered a “significant” injury that would require him to miss some time.
Philadelphia released defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan in March but then re-signed him in April. With Jackson out, the team will be leaning on Jernigan more to help fill the void.
