Dolphins trade RB Kenyan Drake to Cardinals
It’s not a surprise that the Miami Dolphins have traded running back Kenyan Drake.
What is surprising is where he landed.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday morning that Drake is being traded to the Arizona Cardinals for a conditional 2020 draft pick.
It’s a sixth-round pick that could become a fifth-round pick, Schefter reports.
The Cardinals confirmed the trade via Twitter.

Arizona will likely be without David Johnson for Thursday night due to an ankle injury, and Chase Edmonds left Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints with a hamstring injury.
Drake did not travel to Pittsburgh with the Dolphins for “Monday Night Football,” and given that he is healthy, it seemed a trade was imminent.
The Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans were also reportedly calling about Drake, and the Titans in particular are in the playoff hunt midway through the season, so it’s interesting to say the least that a 3-4-1 team that’s seemingly in rebuilding mode would trade for a player on the last year of his rookie contract.
The Cardinals and Johnson agreed to a three-year, $39 million extension last year. According to OvertheCap, $31.9 million is guaranteed for injury and $24.7 million is fully guaranteed.
The 73rd pick in the 2016 draft, Drake has 348 yards from scrimmage through six games (two starts). He had a career-best 1,012 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns last year for Miami.
