Reminderville council OKs several measures

Council approved the following measures at its Jan. 10 and 24 meetings:

• Authorized the mayor to enter into an agreement with Liberty Ford of Aurora to purchase a 2022 Ford F-250 truck for the service department for not more than $26,872. The purchase includes a trade-in allowance of $25,500 for a 2015 Ford F-250.

• Approved an ordinance to regulate the use of portable on-demand storage devices, construction dumpsters and dumpster bags.

• Accepted the fee proposal of OHM Advisors for the preparation of bid documents and bidding services for the Lake Avenue resurfacing project in an amount not to exceed $25,800.

• Authorized the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Summit County Legal Defenders Office to provide legal counsel for eligible indigent persons.

• Hired Jason Pastorius as a building inspector at $25 per inspection and $35 per hour for plan reviews and attendance at meetings; Dustin Hunter and Jeff Smith as part-time firefighters/paramedics at a rate of $23.75 per hour; and Allison Taylor, Brian White, Jeff Janzig, John Hornyak, Marina Rotenberg, Sarah Krakowski, Stacey O’Keefe and Elizabeth Lear as personal trainers and/or instructors at the Reminderville Athletic Club.

• Confirmed the appointments of Thomas Plunkett, Benny Jones, Matthew Miller and Mark Kondik to the volunteer firefighters’ dependents fund.

• Accepted the resignation of Keith Geiger from the fire department, effective Jan. 15.

• Requested the Summit County fiscal officer to make an advanced payment of tax funds for 2022, payable in 2023, to the city’s fiscal office.

• Transferred $100,000 from the VR JEDD fund to the parks and recreation fund to meet budgetary requirements, and $47,228 from the general fund to the Ohio Public Works Commission fund to reflect adjustments which were previously approved by council and must occur in the current fiscal year.

• Advanced $9,000 from the general fund to the bulletproof vest fund.

• Authorized donations of $100 each to the Twinsburg Vocal Music Boosters for invitational trophy sponsorship and the Twinsburg Library’s Coffee for a Cause to benefit the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children program.

• Moved to second reading a memorandum of understanding with the Tinkers Creek Watershed Partners Inc. for 2023. The organization partners with communities to help meet their needs for managing stormwater and natural resources and provide assistance in the areas of community engagement, grant writing, expert consultation and issue advocacy to conserve and restore water quality and habitats in the Tinkers Creek watershed.
