Ree Drummond’s Mom Filmed ‘The Pioneer Woman’ With Her And Now Ree Is Ready To Give Her The Show

We didn't think it was possible to love Ree Drummond's show, The Pioneer Woman, any more than we already did, but as she's recently been filming it at home we've been treated to some behind-the-scenes footage and delightful cameos from her family (and even a rat!). This week, Ree welcomed her mom to the show and it sounds like our favorite Food Network host is ready to hand over the reins to her mama.
In an Instagram, Ree mentioned her mom Gerre Schwert's upcoming appearance on The Pioneer Woman and said they had a blast filming together. In fact, Ree said her mom was such a natural to filming in the kitchen that she wants Gerre to simply take over while Ree becomes camera crew. Side note, this has to be one of the funniest Instagram captions we've ever read.
"I think I’ll just sit back and film her cooking next time," Ree wrote in part. "I’ll be the jabba the hut on the other side of the island, holding the camera, hunched over the counter, unconcerned with what top I’m wearing, Spanxless, eating cheese. I feel that’s my real identity and I somehow accidentally wound up in front of the camera many years ago?"
Ree also showed a TikTok of the pair filming with some help from their family members. Gerre made her "top secret pizza" on the show, and even seeing some sneak peeks made us hungry.
On a sweet note, Ree finished up her Instagram by saying that she and her mom haven't had a chance to hang out much since the COVID-19 pandemic hit so it was great to spend time with her. We're looking forward to seeing these two in the kitchen on the show!!
