Red, White and Boom fireworks light up Lake Bemidji

Jul. 5—BEMIDJI — The last bang of the Red, White and Boom fireworks grand finale closed out the Bemidji Jaycees' 78th Annual Water Carnival in colorful fashion on Monday evening.

Members of the Bemidji community and beyond have gathered in full force the past few days to enjoy the most traditional summer the area has seen in a while.

After much of the 2020 carnival being canceled or reformatted due to coronavirus restrictions, and 2021 being affected by the severe drought and hot temperatures, this summer's carnival was a welcome transition back to "normal."

Even though a few rain showers and thunderstorms were in the forecast for the weekend, other than an occasional sprinkle, the weather cooperated wonderfully and did not majorly impact any of the scheduled carnival events.

Folks gathered in droves along the shoreline of Lake Bemidji on the evening of July 4 to watch the fireworks display and close out another successful week of summertime fun.
