Red Cross elects new board members

Jun. 26—FINDLAY — Two new members were elected to the American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter Board of Directors Thursday night at the Chapter's Volunteer Recognition Dinner and Annual Meeting.

Those elected to the Board for a three-year term include:

Rob Griggs, of Sandusky, and Kate Jones, of Perrysburg.

Stacey Varuolo, of Westlake, will complete her second year as board chair, Jim Wilkins, of Findlay, will service his second year as vice-chair and Eilene Guy, of Sandusky, will serve a second term as secretary. The new members and officers will begin their terms at the start of the Red Cross fiscal year on July 1. Board members whose terms have expired were recognized for their service, including Mary Anne Jeffrey and David Brink, of Sandusky, and Elba dos Santos, of Findlay.

The Chapter also recognized several volunteers for their outstanding service to the Red Cross.

The Red Cross Volunteer Humanitarian Award was presented to Jeanne Eisentrager, of Findlay, and Joanne Gilmore, of Upper Sandusky. Callene Derrick, of Bull Head City, Ariz., and Sally Carter, of Huron, were presented the Volunteer Leadership Award and the Volunteer Spirit of Excellence Award was given to Tina Somerville, of Bowling Green

The Red Cross Hero Award is presented annually by the North Central Ohio Chapter to an individual, company or organization for exceptional commitment to the mission of the American Red Cross and support of the North Central Ohio Chapter. This year, the award was presented to the Nordson Corporation.

The final award of the evening was the Executive Director's Challenge Coin, presented by Chapter Executive Todd James. The award was given posthumously to William Davis, of Findlay. Davis, an active volunteer in the Chapter for more than 20 years, passed away on June 3.
