Record $18.5 million in Ohio Arts Council grant funds awarded

Jul. 24—COLUMBUS — The Ohio Arts Council board has announced nearly $18.5 million in grants to support Ohio artists, arts and cultural organizations, students, educators and public arts programming, a record annual distribution to such programs in the agency's history.

The 746 grants approved by the board on July 21 constitute the initial and major state fiscal year 2022 funding round for the OAC.

Grants were awarded to the following Allen County organizations:

—Lima Area Concert Band, $3,942, for the summer concert series at Crouse Performance Hall and outreach performances at regional outdoor venues.

—Council for the Arts of Greater Lima, $6,375, to continue arts activities.

—Art Space-Lima, $8,467, to continue arts activities.

—Lima Symphony Orchestra, $30,477, to continue symphony activities.

—Heir Force Community School, $36,000, for the sponsorship of a 120-day residency in the media arts with R. Nick Kellis.

Stipends were allocated to the following Auglaize County entities:

—Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta, $2,720, to support a suite of arts and cultural programming.

—Arts Place Inc., St. Marys, $27,223, to continue program arts activities.

—Performing Arts Center of Putnam County, $10,809, to support dance instructor certification activities and programming for people with learning differences and developmental disabilities.

Receiving grant funds in Van Wert County were:

—Off Stage Productions, Van Wert, $2,450, for a season of theatrical performances.

—Van Wert Area Performing Arts Foundation, $7,333, to present the Ballet Theatre of Toledo.

—Van Wert Area Performing Arts Foundation, $40,468, for the continuation of program arts activities.
