Real Wheels: Award-winning Camaro

Jun. 18—LIMA — Andy Maravola, of Lima, has owned his 1991 Chevrolet Camaro since 2002. He takes it to car shows and cruise-ins.

"I've won best of show and a lot of first places," said Maravola.

Maravola is a true "car guy." He enjoys working on his car as much as showing it off. He stores it at a friend's inside storage facility during the winter months. In the summer, it's home parked in his garage where most every day Maravola is outside polishing his beauty.

Being a car guy, Maravola understands the importance of showing a sweet car off. He and John Waller are conducting the 13th annual Westgate Charity Car Show on Sunday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Apollo Career Center, 3325 Shawnee Road, Lima. The cost to enter a car is $10, but it is free for all spectators.

"There will be 100 trophies given away, and we will be giving away $500 for Best of Show, $200 for second place and $100 for third place," said Maravola.

And no worries, as Maravola will not be entering his car.

There will be 50/50 drawings, raffles, concessions and music.

For more information on the Westgate Charity Car Show, call Maravola at 419-991-4615 or John Waller at 419-999-5878.

"All of the money is kept local," said Maravola.
