Reading Hospital Road Run returning as in-person event on Oct. 17

Jul. 24—After going virtual last year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Reading Hospital Road Run will return as an in-person event on Sunday Oct. 17, The Friends of Reading Hospital has announced.

This year's event will consist of a 1-mile fun run/walk, 5K and half marathon, with the start/finish line on Seventh Avenue at Reading Hospital in West Reading.

The half marathon starts at 8 a.m., the 1-mile event at 8:10 a.m. and the 5K at 8:30 a.m. A celebration and awards ceremony will be held following the races.

Proceeds from the event will help fund hospital and community projects supported by The Friends of Reading Hospital, said Sharon Keating, the president of The Friends of Reading Hospital.

Registration is open with discounted rates through Aug. 22.

The "Go-the-Distance Challenge" is also being offered for those who want to participate virtually by running or walking 31, 62 or 131 miles in October.
