Connor Overton entered Tuesday's series opener against the Guardians in Cleveland with three impressive starts under his belt in his young Cincinnati Reds career, and only six as a big-leaguer.

But on Tuesday, he delivered his best start yet, pitching 7 2/3 strong innings before leaving the game with a 3-1 lead - responsible for the runners on 1st and 2nd. One run scored after Tony Santillan relieved Overton, but the Reds still led 3-2 through 8 innings.

Overton allowed three hits and walked only the final batter he faced, while striking out two. He threw 98 pitches - 68 for strikes.

"Connor Overton's got to be very proud of what he's done tonight. A lot of hard work went into that," Bally Sports Ohio analyst Chris Welsh said during the broadcast.

Reds rookie Hunter Greene tossed 7 1/3 no-hit innings in the Reds' 1-0 loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
