Ravens Draft Prospect Profile: Terrace Marshall Jr.

Even after signing Sammy Watkins, the Baltimore Ravens could stand to add one more wide receiver to their offense before the start of the 2021 season. While they could potentially sign another veteran, it seems more likely that the team will decide to draft a pass catcher in the 2021 draft.

One name that Baltimore could look to pair Watkins is LSU wideout Terrace Marshall Jr., who fits what the Ravens need at the position. Marshall stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 200 pounds, so he’s a big target that can out-muscle defenders for contested footballs. He also has the speed to outrun defenders and the athleticism to be dynamic in the open field.

In his three years with the Tigers, Marshall put up 1,594 yards and 23 touchdowns on 106 receptions. He was never a No. 1 receiver in college, as players like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase stole the spotlight away from him. However, that doesn’t mean that Marshall can’t be the top option in an offense at the NFL level. In Baltimore, he’d have the potential to blossom into a star playing next to Watkins, Marquise Brown, and catching passes from Lamar Jackson.

Marshall has great hands, good body control, and is an excellent route runner. He also can play both on the outside or in the slot, something that the Ravens would value. While the team is most likely looking for more of an outside threat, his positional versatility would give Baltimore plenty of ways to move their skill position players all over the field.

There’s no guarantee that Marshall is on the board when the Ravens pick at No. 27. His size, speed, and athleticism have cemented him as at least an early Day 2 pick in the draft, and it’s likely that a team will snatch him up in the first round. It seems unlikely that Baltimore would trade up for him, but if he’s available, the 27th pick could have Marshall’s name written all over it.
