Ravens add six players, Steelers add one to reserve/COVID-19 list
BALTIMORE — The Ravens added six more players to the reserve/COVID-19 list, and the Pittsburgh Steelers placed another starter on the list Saturday, adding more doubt to the teams’ Week 12 game that has already been rescheduled twice.
Outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson, offensive linemen D.J. Fluker and Will Holden, defensive lineman Broderick Washington and cornerbacks Khalil Dorsey and Tavon Young were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. To date, there are 20 players on the list and 18 have landed there since Monday.
Five defensive linemen have been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Three remain on the active roster and another, Aaron Crawford, is on the practice squad.
Dorsey was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 10 with a shoulder injury that is expected to sideline him for multiple weeks. Young suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2 and was subsequently placed on IR.
Any player who tested positive for COVID-19 must self-quarantine for at least 10 days unless they are not showing signs and return two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. This timeline would sideline a player for Tuesday’s game against the Steelers and the team’s Week 13 game against the Dallas Cowboys, which the NFL moved from Thursday, Dec. 3 to Monday, Nov. 7.
A player who landed on the list as a “high-risk” close contact must self-quarantine for five days and continue to test negative before returning to practice.
The Ravens haven’t been inside their facility since Tuesday and last held a practice on Monday, which was a walk-through in preparation for their game, originally scheduled for Thanksgiving Day. The NFL on Wednesday moved the game to Sunday afternoon but as the Ravens’ outbreak continued, it made the decision to push it back even further.
The Steelers on Saturday placed starting back James Conner on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Conner reportedly tested positive and joins defensive end Stephon Tuitt, defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs and offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins on the list.
Pittsburgh also announced that special teams coach Danny Smith and quarterback coach Matt Canada, who are dealing with illnesses, would not coach Tuesday.
