James R. Felger, 63, pleaded guilty in Portage County Court of Common Pleas to two counts each of first-degree felony rape and second-degree felony pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, said Michael Boltz, bailiff for Judge Laurie J. Pittman.

Felger is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 12. Boltz said Felger could be sentenced to as much as 25 years to life in prison.

According to a complaint the Portage County Sheriff's Office filed, Felger raped the girl at a Shalersville home between Sept. 1, 2021, and April 15. The girl was 10 during that entire time period, according to the complaint.

As part of a plea deal, additional charges in a grand jury indictment were dismissed, including three additional rape counts and one additional pandering count.
