The ride, located at Disneyās Hollywood Studios in California, is inspired by Aerosmith. Park-goers travel in a ālimousineā through iconic Hollywood landmarks while listening to the bandās music. Itās weird to see the roller coaster tracks lit up in the footage, especially from the perspective of the front seat.
One commenter summarized the sensation perfectly. āDisney rides with lights on that arenāt supposed to have lights on horrify me for some reason.ā
The Rock ānā Roller Coaster is an example of a ādark rideā ā an attraction that immerses riders in a āfantasyā through scenic elements. The storytelling is what separates a dark ride from the kind of traditional roller coaster you might see at a regional theme park or pier. Thatās why it feels so weird to go through a dark ride with the lights on ā youāre essentially missing out on the main appeal of the ride in the first place.
Plus, itās scary to see the ātangled wad of coasterā just sitting in a warehouse.
Commenters were amazed at how different the ride seemed with the lights on.
āThis video doesnāt do [it] justice,ā one person said, referring to the speed of the ride.
āNever realized how close you are to support beams and stuff,ā another added.
āI donāt like it,ā someone wrote. āTurn the lights back off.ā
