Raptors' Gasol didn't party as hard as you think during championship summer

Those who tuned in to the Toronto Raptors’ NBA championship parade saw Marc Gasol partying like an absolute legend.

And then if that wasn’t enough, when the centre helped Spain win its second FIBA Basketball World Cup, he was also the centre of attention at the celebratory parade.

After watching these two celebrations, nobody would blame you if jumped to the conclusion that Gasol’s entire summer was just one massive party.

But, as ‘Big Spain’ himself says, it wasn’t like that at all.

“You see, that’s the problem with cameras. You think that what happened in the parade would translate into the next day or the whole summer. No, that was only that moment,” Gasol told NBA TV. “It was a great moment and we had a great time, and the same thing in Spain once we won it, we enjoyed it, but as you get older, you can not keep doing that every night.”

Gasol, 34, brings up a good point. Just judging by how hard he was partying in the videos, it’s difficult to imagine him celebrating like that every single day for an entire off-season. The man would be an utter wreck at Toronto’s training camp if he did.
