Rainy Saturday in store for Tampa Bay, followed by blissful weather next week

Preceding a week of non-stop sunshine will be a rainy Saturday, according to Meteorologist Brian McClure of Spectrum Bay News 9.

The rain won’t be accompanied by harsh weather or thunderstorms, McClure said, but it will be plentiful. He set the chance of rain for our region to 90 percent, along with a high of 68 and a low of 51 for Saturday.

The rain, which is entering our region ahead of a cold front, may be a small price to pay for area residents, however. After Saturday evening, McClure doesn’t expect our region to see rain at all through next Friday.

Sunday will be dry but won’t be pleasant, McClure said. Instead, area residents will have to battle strong winds along with cold temps.

“Wouldn’t you know, as soon as the work week starts back up, that’s when the weather gets perfect again,” McClure said.

The forecast for the start of next week calls for clear skies and highs in the low 70s. We’ll then warm up slightly to end the week, with a high of 80 on Thursday and 82 on Friday.

The coldest the region will get will be on Sunday night, McClure said, where lows could reach the uppers 30s in Hernando and Citrus counties. The rest of Tampa Bay is expected to have temps dip to around 47.
