Raiders playoff odds drop to 36 percent after Week 7 loss

The Las Vegas Raiders lost to a really good team in Week 7 in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They were competitive for nearly the entire game and even narrowed the score down to four midway through the fourth quarter. However, a few turnovers and three-straight touchdowns allowed made the score look worse than the game actually was.

Unfortunately, the loss significantly hurt their playoff odds as they have now dropped down to 36 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight. Before the game kicked off, the Raiders had a 50 percent chance of making the playoffs. But obviously, the loss proved to be a big setback.

The Raiders also didn’t get much help from the rest of the conference as the Chiefs, Browns and Chargers all secured victories. While the Chargers aren’t really threats to win the division, they are only a game behind in the Wild Card hunt.

Sitting at 3-3, they are three games back of the Chiefs in the division and are on the outside looking in for a Wild Card spot. It’s worth mentioning the Ravens, Colts, and Browns are currently ahead of the Raiders in the Wild Card standings.

However, the Raiders will get a chance to bounce back in a near must-win game against the Browns next week. With a win, they could get back over .500 and would hold the tie-breaker over Cleveland for a playoff spot. But a loss could be a significant setback for a team that has eyes for the playoffs.

Needless to say, Week 8 will be a big week for the Raiders.
