We’re about four years removed from when Vic Beasley was on top of the football world. He had 15.5 sacks in 2016 and was named an All-Pro. He’s come a long way since then. Though he had eight sacks just last season, he found himself signing a one-year deal with the Titans in the offseason and on November 5 was waived. No one picked him up and he became an unrestricted free agent.

With no one banging down Beasley’s door, the Raiders added him to the practice squad two weeks later. That was November 23. Now two weeks later, he’s been activated and could see his first action when the Raiders face the Jets on Sunday.

Head coach Jon Gruden said on Friday that Beasley “perhaps” could see the field. They need all the pass rush help they can get. They have just 12 sacks this season and half of those (six) are by Maxx Crosby alone. The only other edge rusher to record a sack this season is Carl Nassib (1.5).

Clelin Ferrell returns this week, though he has yet to record a sack and has seven QB hits. He could also see a lot of time inside due to Maliek Collins being sent to IR and Maurice Hurst questionable for the game.
