Rahway man seriously injured and dog killed in West Milton Avenue crash

RAHWAY - Police are seeking witnesses to a Wednesday evening crash in which a city man was seriously injured and his dog was killed.

According to police, around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday a serious motor vehicle crash was reported at the intersection of West Milton Avenue and Bryant Street.

The crash involved a 2014 Ford Focus and a city man and his dog while they were crossing West Milton Avenue.

The pedestrian, Kurt Weins, 45, of Rahway, suffered head and leg injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark. His dog died from injuries suffered in the crash, police said.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Petrina Drayton, 37, of Elizabeth suffered minor cuts to her right hand, police said.

West Milton Avenue was closed between Pierpont Street and Jaques Avenue for about four hours.

This crash is currently under investigation by Rahway Traffic Officer William Oplinger. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Rahway Traffic Bureau at 732-827-207
