Rachel Riley has announced the arrival of her first child with Strictly Come Dancing professional Pasha Kovalev, revealing they've added a baby girl to their family.

The Countdown star tweeted to announce that the tot arrived at the weekend, and revealed her birth story and the meaning behind her name, Maven Aria.

Riley wrote in a series of tweets: "2 weeks after we were expecting her this little one finally made an appearance! Miss Maven (one who understands) Aria (lioness) Riley Kovaleva arrived on Sunday morning weighing in at 7lbs 4.

"After keeping us waiting she came so fast we didn’t get to hospital & was born in our bathroom with our amazing doula & wonderful St Mary’s midwives rushing over to be with us just in time!

"She’s absolutely perfect & Pasha & I are in newborn bliss. Couldn’t be more in love."

The numbers whizz also shared photos of herself and Kovalev with their newborn, who was dressed in a rainbow romper.

Posting a close-up picture of the infant, Riley simply captioned the snap "Mave", along with several love heart emojis.

The birth of their daughter comes after the pair secretly wed earlier this year during a holiday to Las Vegas.

Riley announced the surprise news on Instagram, posting a photo of the pair with the caption: “Introducing the new Mr and Mrs Kovalev. We both said yes!"

Kovalev and Riley met during the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing, where they were partnered together.

The TV personality was married to Jamie Gilbert at the time but split with him in November 2013, and later went on to date Kovalev after the show came to an end.
