Boys basketball

Clover 54, Gaffney 32

Community School of Davidson 56, Mountain Island Charter 51

Crest 75, South Point 62: Crest got the last word in a back-and-forth affair, closing the game on an 8-0 run to remain unbeaten in Big South 3A competition.

East Lincoln 86, West Iredell 41: East Lincoln won its eighth game in a row, routing West Iredell on Friday night. Drew Bean scored 17 points, followed by Jackson Fannon’s 14 points. Keandre Walker had 12 points in a winning cause.

Gaston Christian 63, Westminster Catawba 53: Joe Rhyne hit five 3-pointers on his way to a 17-point night, with Corey Gaines was 6-of-8 from the field for 17 as well as the Eagles got back in the win column over Westminster Catawba. Jahseem Felton added 12 points in a winning effort.

Kings Mountain 84, Forestview 60: Zeke Cannedy finished with a double-double (38 points, 11 rebounds), with Maddox James scoring 24 points and bringing down nine rebounds as Kings Mountain got back in the win column. Curtis Simpson added nine points and nine rebounds in a winning effort.

Lincoln Charter 61, Christ the King 54

North Lincoln 65, North Iredell 62

Stuart Cramer 85, Hunter Huss 67: Will Kelly capped a solid week with a double-double, scoring 50 points to go with 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals in a win over Hunter Huss. Justin Ross led Hunter Huss with 18 points.

Community School of Davidson 37, Mountain Island Charter 26

Crest 43, South Point 25: De’kaylia Davis had 16 points for Crest as it earned a key Big South 3A road win. Maddie Frank had eight points and eight rebounds to lead South Point.

East Lincoln 70, West Iredell 14: Madison Bissinger led the way with 15 points and six rebounds, while Madison Self added 11 points and seven rebounds as East Lincoln remained unbeaten in Western Foothills 3A.

Gaston Christian 49, Westminster Catawba 34: Sara Plyler finished just shy of a quadruple-double (19 points, 19 rebounds, 10 steals, 8 assists), while Liana Mattera added 18 points, eight rebounds and six steals for the Eagles in a winning effort.

Hunter Huss 69, Stuart Cramer 37: Savanni Harris (12 points, 10 rebounds), Anyssiah Love (13 points, 18 rebounds) and Brooklyn Swann (12 points, 10 rebounds) each finished with a double-double as Huss rolled past Stuart Cramer. Hadley Womack finished with 21 in the Storm’s loss.

Kings Mountain 62, Forestview 40: Khalia King led all scorers with 22 points as Kings Mountain remained undefeated in Big South 3A competition. Forestview’s Kendall Manning also finished in double figures with 15 points.

Piedmont Community Charter 53, Sugar Creek 13: Grace East led all scorers with 15 points, followed by teammates Kaylee Nolen (13 points), Lyric Brown (11 points) and Hailey Moore (10 points) in a win over Sugar Creek.

Bunker Hill at West Lincoln: Game postponed due to weather.

Lincolnton at Bandys: Game postponed due to weather.

Wrestling

Six area wrestling teams qualified for the NCHSAA dual team championships.

Cherryville is ranked highest among all teams in Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties, receiving a No. 4 seed to start the 1A playoffs. It will serve as a first and second round host site on Monday, taking on No. 13 South Stokes in opening round competition. The winner advances to face either Swain County or Mitchell in the second round.

Southern Piedmont 1A/2A champion East Gaston was given West 2A’s No. 6 spot, taking on Newton-Conover in the first round. Host Mount Pleasant or Reidsville await the winner.

Forestview and North Gaston also qualified for the postseason, seeded ninth and 13th in the West 3A bracket, respectively.

The Jaguars take on No. 8 Parkwood in opening round competition,the winner getting host Foard or West Charlotte later in the evening. North Gaston travels to fourth-ranked Eastern Guilford, with the winner advancing to face Enka or East Henderson.
