Quick Hits: Moore, Lincoln Charter take thriller over Kings Mountain at Battle of the Mill

A look at high school basketball action from Thursday, Dec. 2 and Friday, Dec. 3.

Boys basketball

Gaston Day 53, Asheville School 48: Evan Montanari scored 25, while Chris Britt and Callum Richard each had 14 points to lead Gaston Day past Asheville School on Friday.

Bessemer City 59, Forestview 54: Randall Pettus had 22 points with Keyshawn Adams adding 21 of his own as the Yellow Jackets moved to 5-0 on the season. Daris Byers led Forestview with 13 points, while Nate Aguilar and Brandon Alfonse each added 10 in a losing effort.

East Gaston 63, North Gaston 59: McCaskill Rivers had 13 points to go with 20 rebounds, while Vellon Rivers had a double-double as well with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead East Gaston past North Gaston. Trent Sherrill joined them in double figures with 17.

East Lincoln 56, Lincolnton 37: Jeremiah Jones scored 20 points to lead East Lincoln past Lincolnton on Friday. Jacob McGill had nine for the Wolves in the loss.

Lincoln Charter 63, Kings Mountain 62: J.J. Moore’s floater and-1 allowed Lincoln Charter to get past Kings Mountain on Friday. The play followed Zavion Smith’s 3-pointer to put the Mountaineers in front by two. Zeke Cannedy finished with 35 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists. Maddox James had 12 points and eight rebounds, with Smith scoring 13 points.

Girls basketball

East Lincoln 62, Lincolnton 29: Madison Self (20 points, 11 rebounds) while Taliyah Thomas had 13 points and seven steals in a win over Lincolnton. Alexis Hough was the lone Lincolnton player in double figures.

Clover 28, Spartanburg 24

North Gaston 41, East Gaston 31

Bandys 50, North Lincoln 31

West Lincoln 59, Cherryville 17: Rae Watson led the way with 12 points, while Chloe Norman, Farrah Richardson and Anna Beiberich added 10 as West Lincoln downed Cherryville.

Gaston Christian 41, Gaston Day 31

Kings Mountain 61, Hough 53: Khalia King had 28 points with Saniya Wilson adding 20 in a winning effort for Kings Mountain at the Battle at the Mill in Concord.

Boys basketball

R-S Central 78, Burns 50

Stuart Cramer 78, East Gaston 51: Will Kelly (18 points, 10 rebounds) and John Hill (11 points, 12 rebounds) each earned double-doubles, Mason Craig had 15 points and seven rebounds, Jacob Joyner scored 13 points as the Storm earned a win over East Gaston.

Lincoln Charter 63, 1 of 1 Academy 52: Marcus Farley scored 20 points with J.J Moore joining him in double figures with 17 as Lincoln Charter earned a win over 1 of 1 Academy.

Girls basketball

Asheville School 65, Gaston Christian 33: Liana Maltera led Gaston Christian with 13 points in a losing effort.

1 of 1 Academy 83, Lincoln Charter 45

East Gaston 37, Stuart Cramer 31: Hallie Chaffin had nine points to lead East Gaston in a hard-fought win over Stuart Cramer. Hadley Womack had nine points to lead Stuart Cramer in a losing effort.
