How Purdue women's basketball fared in Cancun against Harvard, Florida State, Oklahoma State
The Purdue women's basketball team plays its first games away from Mackey Arena over Thanksgiving weekend when the Boilermakers take on Harvard, Florida State and Oklahoma State in Cancun.
Oklahoma State
Lasha Petree reached the 20-point mark for the second time in three games and the Boilermakers received solid production from the bench during a 71-65 victory. Purdue finished the trip with a 2-1 record and is 6-1 overall.
Ava Learn and Abbey Ellis combined for 24 points, making 12 of 14 from the line, as the Boilermakers rallied from a four-point halftime deficit. Purdue scored 17 second-chance points off nine offensive rebounds.
The Boilermakers trailed by eight in the third quarter but put together an 11-2 run over the final 2:26 to overtake the Cowgirls.
Florida State
The Boilermakers saw their five-game winning streak to start the season snapped by the Seminoles, who prevailed 76-75.
Madison Layden and Lasha Petree each scored 15 points and Abbey Ellis added 14 points and Cassidy Hardin added 11, including three 3-pointers. The Boilermakers made 12 of 27 from 3-point range.
Purdue led 40-36 at halftime but the Seminoles opened the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run for their first lead of the game. Petree's 3-pointer gave the Boilermakers their last advantage but FSU quickly regained the lead and built a five-point cushion.
Harvard
The Boilermakers used a 16-0 second-quarter run to open up a 45-21 halftime lead to post their fifth-straight victory to start the season with an 85-63 win.
Purdue shot a season-high 60.7% from the field, marking the fourth-consecutive game coach Katie Gearlds' team has hit 50% or better. The Boilermakers hit eight 3-pointers, including three each from Cassidy Hardin and Lasha Petree.

Petree matched her season high with 23 points, hitting 9 of 14 from the field. Caitlyn Harper added 15 points - on 7 of 8 shooting - and Abbey Ellis contributed 10 points off the bench. Jeanae Terry totaled 13 rebounds and eight assists.
Purdue scored 46 points in the paint, its third game with 40 or more.
The victory was Gearlds' 250th of her career.
Purdue will play Florida State on Friday at 1:30 p.m. The Boilermakers knocked off the nationally ranked Seminoles last season in St. Petersburg, Florida. FSU lost to Oklahoma State 77-75 in Thursday's first game.
