When will Publix be open? How about the mall? What to know about Memorial Day hours

Memorial Day is almost here and, soon it’ll be time for some R&R. Maybe you’ll be barbecuing at the park, drinking a cold one by the pool, or taking a road trip to the Keys.

But if you need to run some last-minute errands in South Florida on Monday, here’s what’s open and closed:

Supermarkets

Publix: Stores will be open regular hours (7 a.m. to 10 p.m.) but pharmacies will be closed on Memorial Day.

Winn-Dixie and Fresco y Más: Open regular hours; check your local store because closing times vary.

Sedano’s: Stores will operate on regular hours (7 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. depending on your store).

The Fresh Market: Regular hours, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Whole Foods Market: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. during the weekend, but check with your store of preference. On Memorial Day, stores will run on holiday hours, which is from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Aldi: Stores will have normal hours (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) during the weekend. On Monday, stores in the Miami-area will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Trader Joe’s: Open regular hours, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Pharmacies

Walgreens: On Memorial Day, all stores and pharmacies will be open although some non-24-hour pharmacies will have reduced hours.

CVS: Stores and pharmacies will be open as normal on the weekend. On Monday, most CVS Pharmacy locations, including 24-hour locations, will be open with regular hours. However, some pharmacies might have reduced hours or be closed for the holiday. Call your store or visit cvs.com to check store hours.

Navarro: Open, check with your store for hours.

Recreation and Shopping

Beaches: Open in Miami-Dade and Broward.

Parks: Open

Malls: Aventura Mall, Dolphin Mall and the Simon-owned malls (Dadeland Mall, The Falls, Florida Keys Outlet Marketplace, International Mall, Sawgrass Mills, Coral Square, Town Center at Boca Raton) will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Restaurants: Restaurants are usually open on Memorial Day, including Chick-fil-A. However, some places might have reduced hours.

Transit, Banks, Garbage

Mass transit: In Miami-Dade, the Metrorail and Metromover will run on their weekend schedules and the Metrobus will run on its Sunday schedule on Memorial Day Monday.

In Broward County, transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day. There will be no Express and Breeze bus service. People who need planning for fixed-route and paratransit services can call 954-357-8400 (TTY 954-357-8302) from 8::30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday. Also, during those hours, the following terminals will be staffed:

Broward Main Terminal, 101 NW First Ave, in downtown Fort Lauderdale; Lauderhill Transit Center, 1359 NW 40th Ave., in Lauderhill and the Northeast Transit Center, 304 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. in Pompano Beach.

Tri-Rail: Trains will run on a weekend schedule, which means they won’t “have the flexibility to wait on late comers,” the Tri-Rail says on its website. Passengers should get to the station 20 minutes before their departure. Here’s where you can find train arrival times on the schedule.

Garbage: Miami, Miami-Dade and Coral Gables will be collecting as usual.

Banks: Closed.

Mail delivery: USPS, UPS and FedEx services will be closed on Memorial Day. Since Amazon uses these couriers to deliver packages, don’t expect your items to get to you on time.

U.S. stock markets: Closed.

Schools: Closed.

Courts, City Government

Miami-Dade County Offices: County offices, including libraries and courthouses, will be closed on Memorial Day.

Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida: Closed.

Broward County Offices: County offices, including libraries and courthouses, will be closed on Memorial Day.

COVID-19 Vaccine, Testing Sites

Broward: All Broward Department of Health testing and vaccine sites will be closed on Memorial Day and reopen on Tuesday.

Miami-Dade County-run sites: Several COVID vaccine sites will be open, but they will not be 24/7 providing vaccines or boosters. Here are some sites that will be open: Joseph Caleb Center, 5400 NW 22nd St. in Miami; Kendall Indian Hammocks Park, 11395 SW 79th St.; Health District Center, 1350 NW 14TH St. Find more sites here..
