It has been over 20 years since Princess Diana’s death, but the late royal remains a style icon.
In 2019, the Princess of Wales dress is still frequently referenced and replicated on the catwalks and on the high street - the latest Diana-inspired trend to re-emerge being pearl earrings.
From oversized ‘80s studs to glamorous pearl drop earrings - the accessory was one of Diana’s key sartorial staples. Whether she was visiting a charitable cause or attending a red carpet event, a pair of pearl earrings almost always finished off one of her perfectly put together ensembles.
Diana’s most recognisable pearl earrings were from Collingwood jewellers and become one of her most iconic jewels - worn on her wedding day to accessorise her going away outfit, with the elaborate ‘Elvis dress’ in 1989 and for her first appearance after the Prince of Wales confessed adultery with Camilla Parker-Bowles in 1994.

Since her death, the earrings have been passed down to Prince William’s wife, The Duchess of Cambridge, who much like her late mother-in-law, is a big fan of the accessory and has been seen in them on numerous occasions, most recently wearing the earrings to the christening of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first child, Archie.
