Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is now playing without any limitations after tearing his right plantar fascia in his foot last season, according to Thunder general manager Sam Presti.

Gilgeous-Alexander missed the second half of last year due to the season-ending injury but is now back to a full workload. Presti credited a “conservative approach” to rehab prior to any potential return during his preseason press conference Friday.

“One of the reasons why I think he’s in the position he is and looks the way he does right now is because we took a really conservative approach last season to make sure that he wasn’t dealing with this on and off, especially if he was going to play national team,” Presti said. “Right now, he’s good to go, no limitations at all.”

Before his injury, the fourth-year guard was averaging 23.7 points and 5.9 assists per game while shooting above 50% from the field and 40% from 3 as the lead of the Thunder offense. He has shined in two years with the Thunder after being acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in the trade that sent out Paul George.

He signed an extension with the Thunder in early August of this year, tying him to the city through 2026-27.
