Prep highlights: Pinckney's Alivia Ligrow qualifies for state golf tournament

Pinckney junior Alivia Ligrow qualified for the state Division 3 golf tournament for the second year in a row Monday at Huron Meadows Golf Course.

Ligrow tied for fifth place with an 82. The top three golfers not on a qualifying team advanced to the state tournament, which will be held Oct. 14-15 at Forest Akers East in East Lansing.

Ligrow was 21st in the state tournament last season after tying for fourth at regionals with an 84.

Pinckney finished seventh out of 11 teams with a 410. Senior Kenzie Christopher tied for 22nd with a 97 for the Pirates.

The state-qualifying teams were Grosse Ile (338), Detroit Country Day (345) and Birmingham Marian (348). Grosse Ile senior Lily Bargamian was the medalist with a 76.

Tennis

Fowlerville 6, Grand Ledge 2

Fowlerville senior Lucas Anderson tied the school record for career victories by winning his No. 1 singles match against Patrick Comer.

Anderson has 63 victories, matching the total established by doubles player Caden Flanery from 2015-18. The Gladiators have one more dual match remaining before regionals.

Field hockey

Hartland 2, Pinckney 0

Hartland goalie Ava Gilardone made 10 saves to earn the shutout.

Madison Klamo and Claire Forsyth scored for the Eagles.

Soccer

Pinckney 1, Chelsea 0

Owen Keene scored off a pass from Chris Newman in the first half, as Pinckney (11-2-1) completed SEC White play with a 10-0 record. Tristan Frazzini registered the Pirates’ seventh shutout in 10 division games.

Salem 4, Brighton 2

Brighton (4-6-4) fell behind 4-0 against the 10th-ranked team in Division 1 before getting two quick goals midway through the second half by Connor Blood and Owen Buckley.
