Prep highlights: One-hitter keeps River baseball undefeated

Apr. 15—Sawyer Parkin pitched a five-inning one-hitter as Columbia River remained undefeated in the 2A Greater St. Helens League with a 10-0 win at Hudson's Bay on Wednesday.

Parkin had nine strikeouts and one walk.

A seven-run fifth inning gave River (4-0) the 10-run advantage.

Leadoff hitter Nick Adler went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored.

Stars of the day

Easton Ortega, Ridgefield baseball, went 4 for 5 with a double, triple, RBI and three runs scored in a 16-4 win at Woodland.

Caeden Chambers and Braxton Cornett, Hockinson baseball. Chambers was 2 for 2 at the plate with a double, RBI and three runs scored plus two stolen bases. He also struck out seven R.A. Long batters in four innings as the Hawks won 14-4 in six innings. Cornett was 3 for 4 with two triples and two RBI.

Noah Imboden, Kalama baseball, struck out 14 in 6.2 shutout innings and had a triple in a 5-0 win over Toledo.

Taylor McRae, Columbia River softball, struck out her last batter with two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh in River's 4-2 win at R.A. Long. She had seven strikeouts and one walk in addition to an run-scoring single.

Ashley King, Hockinson softball, was 3 for 5 in the lead-off position with two RBI and three runs scored in the Hawks 13-3 win at Washougal.

Sofia Nelson, King's Way Christian softball, combined to strike out 18 batters and was 4-7 with three doubles in the Knights' doubleheader sweep of Goldendale.

J'Quan Collins, Fort Vancouver boys track and field, won three events and was on a winning relay team in a dual meet with Hudson's Bay. Collins won the 110-meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump and was the anchor of the 400 relay for the Trappers.

Miranda Gonzalez, Hudson's Bay girls track and field, won the 400 meters, high jump, ran anchor on the winning 1,600 relay, and was second in the 100 in the dual meet with Fort Vancouver.

Samuel Grice, Washougal boys track and field, won the 800 and 1,600 and anchored the winning 1,600 relay for the Panthers in a double dual with Mark Morris and R.A. Long.

Elle Thomas, Washougal girls track and field, won the 800 and 1,600 and anchored the winning 1,600 relay for the Panthers in a double dual with Mark Morris and R.A. Long.

Aubrey Burnham, Columbia River girls tennis, came back from losing the first set to post a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles as River swept R.A. Long.
