Prep boys winners from Tuesday: Burr Oak, Centreville, Colon, WP, TR and Bronson

The Burr Oak boys improved to 4-2 on the season with a 70-48 win over Athens on Tuesday.

“The team was very unselfish in finding the open man against their zone defense,” Burr Oak coach Ryan VanDosen said. “We had a total of 15 threes made and we shot really well tonight.”

Chase Hines and Branson Hernandez each scored 21 points to lead the Bobcats. Hernandez hit for six threes in the game, Hines made three triples. Hines added seven rebounds, four steals and four blocks while Hernandez handed out eight assists.

Jayden Kemp connected for four triples in the game for 12 points, he handed out two assists while Aiden Calvert scored eight points. Dominick Hagen and Ethan Boyles both had three points, Boyles added five rebounds. Austin Cole scored two points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Centreville rebounds to win

The Centreville boys came from down 17 points to beat Cassopolis 59-58 on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs trailed 46-39 entering the fourth quarter as well, but out-scored the Rangers 20-12 in the final eight minutes to pick up the win.

Cassopolis started the game out hot, scoring 21 points in the first quarter. Centreville posted 11 but added 13 in the second quarter. Cass led 29-24 entering halftime.

In the end, Centreville had four players score in double figures. The Bulldogs were led by Tyler Swanwick’s 14 points, Roman Robinson tossed in 12 while Matt Swanwick scored 11 and Mason Lemings added 10.

Corey Carpenter scored three points, Malique Singleton added three as well. Harrison Gregory, Jacob Sikanas and Dylan Palmer each had two points in the win.

Colon beats up Litchfield

The Colon boys took care of Litchfield on Tuesday, winning 70-36.

The Magi struggled to score a bit in the opening quarter, posting just nine points. In the final three quarters, Colon scored 21, 20 and 20 points, respectively.

Colon trailed 14-9 after one quarter of play, but rebounded to lead at halftime 30-17. The Magi led 50-26 as the teams went into the fourth quarter.

Josh West led Colon with 19 points, including scoring 12 in the fourth quarter. Simon Vinson finished with 18 points, including 16 combined in the second and third quarters while Justin Wickey tossed in 13 points.

Kaleb Johnson scored eight points, Maverick Downs added five and Alex Stoll connected for four points. Connor Hetman added two, Kyle Muntain added a free throw.

White Pigeon 44, Bangor 20

The White Pigeon Chiefs beat Bangor on Tuesday, 44-20.

The Chiefs scored 15 points in the opening quarter, the most be either team in any quarter. They led 15-0 after the opening eight minutes. White Pigeon lengthened the lead at halftime, going up 23-3.

White Pigeon out-scored Bangor 9-8 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth.

The Chiefs were led by Dylan Carper with 11 points, Todd Hollingsworth tossed in 10 points while Isaiah Lane scored seven. Adding five points each was Wes Roberts and Aidan Picking. Josh Davidson scored four points, James Stewart added two.

Hollingsworth totaled six rebounds, Carper had five rebounds and five assists.

Parchment 70, Constantine 23

The Constantine basketball team dropped a 70-23 decision to Parchment on Tuesday.

The Panthers led 21-9 after one quarter of action and 41-13 at halftime.

The third quarter saw Parchment’s edge sit at 20-5, giving them a 61-18 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Constantine was led by Dean Topolski with nine points, Tyler Juday added seven. Lukas Hagenbuch added five points while Juice Griffith connected for two.

Comstock 60, Mendon 29

Comstock beat Mendon 60-29 in prep boy’s hoops action on Tuesday.

“Tough one tonight, turnovers never gave us a shot to stay in the game,” Mendon coach Danny Schragg said. “Defensively we played a solid first half but turnovers just covered up anything we did well.”

Both Luke Schinker and Noah Robets scored 11 points for Mendon.

TR beats Allegan

Three Rivers beat Allegan in prep hoops action on Tuesday, 77-64.

“This was a good win for us,” TR coach Brian Burg said. “To finish the game out we did a good job of taking care of the ball and making the open shots to get the win.”

Three Rivers led 21-7 after one quarter of action and 42-27 at the break.

The Wildcats led a tighter contest entering the fourth at 53-46.

Nolan Ryearson led Allegan with 29 points.

Three Rivers got 29 points points from Caleb Quake, he hit a career-high six 3-pointers in the game. He added four rebounds and three assists as well.

Andrew Brown connected for 13 points with six rebounds, six assists and five steals while Angelo Hausmanis scored 13 points with nine rebounds and three assists. Connor Quake tossed in eight points with five rebounds, Garron Gahan scored six points with six rebounds. Chase Evans scored six points as well with eight rebounds, Lamonta Stone scored two points.

Decatur 68, Marcellus 55

The Marcellus boys dropped a 68-55 decision to Decatur on Tuesday.

Decatur out-scored Marcellus 20-11 in the first quarter and 17-14 in the second. The Raiders led 37-25 at halftime. They also out-scored Marcellus 20-16 in the third. The Wildcats held the edge in the final eight minutes, 14-11.

Wyatt Haas led Marcellus with 18 points and seven rebounds, Nathan Mihills scored 14 points with nine rebounds, Parker Adams tossed in 11 points with four rebounds.

Scoring six points in the game was Brandon Stezowski, Beau Ferguson added four points and Quinton Tone scored two. Eian O’Neill grabbed five rebounds in the game, Ferguson handed out five assists.

Bronson beats Union City

The Bronson boys beat up on Union City Tuesday, winning 72-45.

The Vikings poured in 23 points in the first quarter, the most points by either team in a quarter. They led 23-10 after one and built a 39-15 edge at halftime.

The lead entering the fourth quarter was doubled up at 52-26.

Bronson was led by Reagan Mayer with 24 points, Tanner Norton scored 14 points and Aden Hathaway put in 11 points. Kamron Brackett hit a pair of triples in the first quarter for six points, Sayler Wotta added five points.

Both Ashton Wells and Boston Bucklin put in three points while Braylon Calloway, Jordan Shadix and Nolan Ray each scored two points.
