Prep Boys Hockey: Sauk Rapids take overtime win over Willmar
Dec. 8—Sauk Rapids scored a power-play goal 2:13 into overtime to lift the Storm past Willmar in the Central Lakes Conference game at the Willmar Civic Center.
"Our guys battled," Willmar head coach Jamie Hagen said. "It was a great hockey game to watch.
"We had a tough call at the end that put us on the penalty kill. We've been looking forward to playing a Central Lakes Conference team, but we couldn't get over that hurdle. It was back-and-forth momentum-wise. All in all, it was a good hockey game."
Luke Pakkula scored the game-winner for Sauk Rapids. He also had two assists.
Willmar got goals from Ethan Stark, Elijah Van Buren, Taton Hansen and Jason Malmgren.
Malmgren's goal tied it up four at 9:26 of the third period.
Willmar plays Thursday at Benson against the Morris/Benson Area Storm.
