Prep Basketball: Balanced attack leads SF Christian past Watertown; Great Plains Lutheran wins

Sioux Falls Christian used a balanced-scoring attack to notch a 64-52 non-conference boys basketball win over Watertown on Saturday night in the Civic Arena.

Brooks Nelson scored 16 points, Nathan Koole and Ethan Bruns each 13, Logan Schipper 11 and Tate Snyder nine for the Chargers, who improved to 5-4 on the season.

Christian led throughout, holding a 17-10 advantage after one quarter, 30-26 at halftime and 45-37 after three periods.

Watertown’s Drew Norberg led all scorers with 19 points. Reese Stark added nine, Devon Lewis and Jake Olson each six and Marcus Rabine five.

Sioux Falls Christian shot 52 percent (22 of 42) from the field and won the board battle 30-26, getting eight rebounds from Koole and seven from Nelson.

Watertown made 19 of 54 field-goal attempts for 35 percent. Cole Holden and Norberg each grabbed five rebounds.

The Arrows are back home for two games this weekend — hosting Rapid City Stevens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Rapid City Central at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Great Plains Lutheran 61, North Central 25 — Sam Hansen scored 20 points and Ethan Kjenstad 19 to propel the Panthers (2-5) to the non-conference win. Trent Lien added 10 and Myles York six.

Hansen contributed 11 rebounds, Lien six and York five. Alex Heil added four to go along with six assists.

No leaders were reported for North Central (0-7).

Little Wound 59, Florence-Henry 55 — Dylan Cuny had 16 points, Andres Dubray 14, Wakiyan Cuny 12 and Trey Yellow Boy 10 to lead Little Wound (7-2) to victory in the Redfield Shootout.

Tegan Sumner tallied 16 points, Andrew Schroeder 14 and Mekhi Keller 11 for the Falcons (4-5).

Redfield 54, Waverly-South Shore 47 — Host Redfield (3-5) took the Redfield Shootout game with 15 points from Jerrod Haider, 14 from Peyton Osborn and 12 from Mitchell Mack. Justin Ratigan added 15 rebounds and Osborn five assists.

Carter Comes recorded a triple-double for the Coyotes (1-5), collecting 14 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. Cooper Schmit added 13 points, Troy Kneeland nine points and Dan Dalton six assists.

Groton Area 68, Deubrook Area 42 — Lane Tietz notched 19 points and Jayden Zak 18 to help Groton Area (8-0) stay unbeaten with the win in the Redfield Shootout. Wyatt Hearnen contributed 12 points, Tate Larson eight and Jacob Zak seven.

Nicholas Bowne paced Deubrook Area (4-4) with 12 points, John Jorenby added nine and Andrew Trooien seven.

Other Game — The Flandreau Indian School at Tiospa Zina game was postponed on Saturday.

Belle Fourche 62, Redfield 51 (Friday) — Belle Fourche took the non-conference game by getting 20 points from Ryker Audiss and 18 from Aiden Griffin.

Peyton Osborn and Mitchell Mack each had 18 points and Nolan Gall 12 for Redfield. Mack snared 10 rebounds and Gall eight.
