Prep Baseball Roundup: BOLD breaks through

May 15—BIRD ISLAND — After a tight four innings, BOLD baseball finally broke through in the fifth.

The Warriors, ranked eighth in this week's Class A poll, strung together six runs in the bottom of the fifth en route to a 10-0 six-inning victory against Section 2A rival Nicollet at Lions Memorial Park.

Drew Sagedahl, BOLD's No. 9 hitter, got a one-out single, starting a string of six straight Warriors reaching base. Avery Herdina and Aidan Elfering had back-to-back RBI singles before Zeke Walton drove in two runs on a double. Walton scored on a wild pitch and Tim Peppel crossed home after an infield error.

With a two-run single by Elfering in the sixth, BOLD (11-4) put the 10-run rule into effect.

Peppel put up the first run of the game in the second inning. With a hit to left field, Peppel reached third on the play following an error. He later reached home on the throw to first base after a dropped third strike.

Herdina finished 2-for-3 with two runs, two stolen bases and an RBI while Elfering was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a run and a stolen base. Sagedahl went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and a stolen base.

Walton held the Raiders (1-13) to two hits and four walks in a complete-game victory, striking out six. He was also 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Riley Mans had both of Nicollet's hits, with singles in the first and sixth innings.

The Warriors are on the road for a West Central Conference doubleheader against Montevideo on Tuesday.

The Arrows got the walk-off win after a two-out single by Connor Zephier brought home Kaden Musch.

The game was delayed an hour because of rain.

With a five-run bottom of the fifth inning, Minneota was able to pull away from Dawson-Boyd for the Camden Conference victory at K.P. Kompelien Field.

Ben Skorczewski went 2-for-3 with a double, three stolen bases and two runs for the Vikings. AJ Myhre was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Brayden Hahn was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI for the Blackjacks while Codie Johnson finished 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored.
