Power of 100 Women Dickinson announces $20K donation

Jun. 28—DICKINSON — Power of 100 Women's Dickinson chapter met in April to review four charities selected by their members to consider for their quarterly donation. This is the 10th time the group will split their donations between two charities. A $400,000 milestone thanks to the generous donations of 250 members who've supported local charities over the past 6 years.

"By harnessing the power of women coming together, we can have a much greater impact than any of us could individually," the organization's

website

states. "These group fundraising efforts allow us to have an impact that we can see in the communities where we live, work, play, and raise our families. Together we can make a difference."

Of the over two dozen charities reviewed, members invite four of them to make presentations at each general membership meeting, voting for two of the four to receive donations.

The two charities ultimately selected include the Domestic Violence Rape Crisis Center and the Dakota Children's Advocacy Center.

The DVRCC of Dickinson has been serving southwest North Dakota for nearly 40 years. The confidential services they

provide

include a 24 hour crisis phone line, counseling, personal advocacy, shelter, public education and safety planning.

The Dakota Children's Advocacy Center is also

focused

on helping those who've experienced pain and suffering. The group has been working with young children for 25 years. They serve children 18 and under who have experienced trauma in their lives. They provide a safe place and services for children and their families who have been affected by abuse.

Power of 100 Women Dickinson expanded the area for nominations from 501 (c)(3) charities to a 50-miles radius of Dickinson. Members of Power of 100 Women have the opportunity to submit charities for consideration at each meeting. Women in Dickinson and surrounding areas are invited to join.

Their next meeting will be held on July 25 . Prospective new members and guests are always welcome. No dues and no charge to attend. Those interested can contact Shirley Dukart at 701-290-2283 at or Irene Schafer at 701-290-3222 for additional information.
