Post 18 splits two games to start play at Lewis & Clark tourney

Jun. 12—VERMILLION — Mitchell split two games on Friday during the Lewis and Clark Tournament. Post 18 defeated Tea (6-2) and lost to Vermillion (19-2) in its second game.

Today, Mitchell (5-11) plays Pender Pendragons and Brandon Valley at 2 and 4:30 p.m., respectively.

Mitchell 6, Tea 2

VERMILLION — Landon Waddell fanned eight batters to lift Post 18 to a win over Tea in Game 1 of the Lewis & Clark Tournament on Friday. Waddell allowed seven hits and one earned run through six innings.

Offensively, Seth Muth, Dylan Soulek, Jake Helleloid, Parker Bollinger and Riley McGinnis each had a hit. Helleloid drove in two runs.

Vermillion 19, Mitchell 2 (3 innings)

VERMILLION — Vermillion erupted for 18 runs in the second inning to earn a 17-run victory over Post 18 in Game 2 of the Lewis & Clark Tournament on Friday.

Parker Bollinger had Mitchell's lone hit of the contest, while Vermillion racked up nine hits. Mitchell finished with four errors.

Landon Waddell hit an RBI sac fly and Jace Larson scored on a wild pitch for Mitchell's only two runs. Jonah Schmidt took the loss after allowing six hits, 14 runs (three earned) and had three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.
