Memphis and Cordova will get a new affordable shopping option this year with pOpshelf locations set to open in the coming months.
pOpshelf, a Dollar General concept, announced Tuesday it will expand to the area with locations in Memphis and Cordova.
The stores — at 7706 Winchester Road in Memphis and 2725 N. Germantown Parkway in Cordova — are currently under construction with plans to open in spring 2022.
“We are thrilled to expand the pOpshelf offerings in the Memphis market with the addition of stores in the Cordova and Germantown neighborhoods, and we look forward to having customers pop by the new stores this spring,” said Matt Frame, pOpshelf’s director of store operations.
“At pOpshelf, there’s every-changing fun in every find, happiness in the affordability and joy in the stress-free shopping experience we offer. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new store.”

The stores will offer a range of items mostly under $5 including home décor, beauty products, party supplies, specialty foods and electronics.
The Memphis and Cordova stores are each expected to create around 15 new jobs.
The Memphis-area locations are part of a string of expansions Dollar General plans for the year with about 100 pOpshelf stores across the nation expected to open.
Dollar General debuted pOpshelf in fall 2020 and opened its first two stores near Nashville in late October 2020.
By the end of Dollar General's fiscal third quarter, it operated 30 pOpshelf stores in six states and 14 store-within-a-store formats, combining both brands. markets. By February, pOpshelf will operate up to 50 stores and up to 25 store-within-a-store formats.
pOpshelf also commits itself to serving communities and partnered with The Confetti Foundation, a Rhode Island-based nonprofit, to provide birthday parties to children in a hospital, pediatric oncology clinic or hospice facility.
