Oregon’s odds of taking down No. 3 Stanford were long to begin with.

The Ducks gave themselves almost no chance with their worst shooting performance in six years.

Oregon fell behind early and never could get back in the game as it lost 62-54 to the Cardinal in a Pac-12 women’s basketball game Sunday afternoon at Maples Pavilion in Stanford.

The Ducks made just 25% from the field on 20-of-80 shooting, their lowest single-game shooting percentage since making 28.3% against Oregon State in January of 2017.

It was also the lowest point total this season for Oregon (14-7, 5-5 Pac-12), which lost for the third time in its last four games.

“The bottom line is we can’t shoot the way we did and expect to beat anybody, let alone Stanford on the road,” Oregon coach Kelly Graves said during his postgame radio appearance. “I give them credit. I thought defensively we were really good tonight. We did enough defensively to win this game.”

Phillipina Kyei led the Ducks with 12 points and 17 rebounds, Chance Gray also scored 12 and Grace VanSlooten had 11 points and six rebounds.

Shooting was a problem from the beginning as the Ducks opened the game 4-for-35 from the field before finishing the first half by making 3-of-5 to trail 27-21 at halftime.

Still, the Ducks shot just 17.5% in the first half, and though they improved to make 32.5% of their shots in the second half, Stanford (21-2, 9-1) never surrendered its lead.

Cameron Brink led the Cardinal with a triple-double as the 6-4 forward from Beaverton had 16 points, 11 rebounds and a career high 10 blocks.
