Pomona man arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill his nephew in Adelanto

A Pomona man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill his 20-year-old nephew in Adelanto, Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station officials reported.

Martin Molina, 42, remains at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on Monday, with bail set at $1 million. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Victorville Superior Court, booking records show.

Molina also has a hold warrant from the Pasadena Police Department for a vehicle code violation. His bail is set at $26,000.

The incident

At 1:59 a.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a 911 call for a situation occurring in the 15700 block of McVay Lane in Adelanto.

Sheriff’s officials reported that a suspect, later identified as Molina, showed up at the residence armed with a handgun.

Once inside, an argument ensued between Molina and his nephew. Molina then brandished a loaded 9mm handgun and used it to hit his nephew several times on the head.

Molina then fired one round, missing his nephew and hitting a door. The victim sustained multiple lacerations to his head and was transported to a local hospital, while Molina was arrested and booked at the HDDC.

The investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Department asks anyone with information to contact Deputy K. Russell at Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-552-6800.
