Poll results: Here’s the high school baseball player of the week in southwest Illinois

Grant Huebner of Edwardsville High School is the winner of this week’s Belleville News-Democrat Baseball Player of the Week high school poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.

In recent action, Huebner, a senior catcher/outfielder, scored 4 times, hit a home run and drove in 3 in a win against Freeburg. He also posted an RBI in a victory against O’Fallon before posting 2 hits and 1 RBI in a win against Waterloo and 2 more hits and 3 RBI in a regional triumph against Alton. On the season, Huebner is batting .427 with 4 home runs, 35 RBI and 36 runs scored.

Huebner tallied 96% of the votes to finish ahead of other BND nominees Brendan Brock of Mascoutah High School, Bauer Dalke of Althoff Catholic High School, Alex Gomric of Althoff Catholic High School, Connor Lindsey of O’Fallon High School, Tyler Robertson of Mater Dei High School. The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.

To be clear, this poll is not scientific. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. It’s all for fun, BND readers.
