Cincinnati police released on Thursday body camera footage from the shooting death of Ali Coulter by police officers in Covington.

Officers Charles Knapp and Mark Longworth were part of a fugitive apprehension team that went to Kentucky to speak with Coulter's mother on Monday, officials said.

Interim Chief Teresa Theetge said when the officers approached the house, Coulter came outside with a loaded handgun and refused to drop it despite being ordered to do so.

Video of the incident shows Knapp entering the backyard of the residence when Coulter flees, jumping over a wooden fence. Officers then confronted him in the front yard of another house ordering Coulter several times to drop his weapon.

Coulter is seen in a still photo taken from the body camera footage holding a handgun.

Knapp orders Coulter to "drop it, drop it" just before both officers fire their weapons. The officers continue to yell at Coulter to "throw the gun away" before they begin rendering aid.

Coulter, 20, was wanted on a murder warrant in Hamilton County. He was charged in the death of Christian Jones in East Price Hill on April 6.

Interim City Manager John Curp said Kentucky State Police were investigating the incident and the city was cooperating with that investigation. The Citizen Complaint Authority and Cincinnati Police Department are conducting parallel investigations.

Police met with Coulter's family Thursday morning to review the body camera footage before releasing it to the public, according to Theetge.

Theetge said both officers were interviewed by KSP on Wednesday, adding they were placed on a five-day administrative leave. She said the department's internal investigation is looking into training and tactics, not the legality of the shooting.

There's no indication yet as to when KSP will complete there investigation, Theetge said. She couldn't comment on certain details of the shooting due to KSP's investigation.
