Police: Remember to lock your doors

Borough police remind residents to keep their home and vehicle doors locked as officers were notified of two attempted break-ins on South Kennedy Drive (Route 309) in recent days.

In both instances damage was incurred to the doors. Anything suspicious should be reported to police by calling 911.

Man facing two charges following incident at Boyer's

Matthew D. Marchalk, 36, Orwigsburg, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after police were called to the parking lot of Boyer's Supermarket on Cedar Street around 8:30 p.m. April 18 for a man who knocked over a construction fence and was jumping on cars and yelling.

According to police:

Using the description of the person provided to Schuylkill County 911 by the caller, police found the man in the parking lot for Family Dollar. Marchalk appeared to be under the influence of drugs. He was sweating profusely, talking fast, jumpy and not listening to officers' questions. He was taken into custody and evaluated by an ambulance crew.

Man lied on gun form, police say

A Tresckow man was charged after Luzerne County detectives say he provided false information on a firearms form June 13 in Drums.

Dominic R. Kozel, 44, faces statement under penalty, a charge filed against him Feb. 23, which he pleaded guilty to April 27.

Arrest papers state he claimed on the form that he was never convicted of an offense where he could have been sentenced to over a year in prison when in 2015, a conviction for a third offense of driving under the influence could have resulted in more than one year in jail.
