Police: Man, 57, killed two people in Westgate neighborhood in suburban WPB

A suburban West Palm Beach man was arrested this morning on charges of killing a man and woman Saturday in what authorities say was a domestic dispute in the Westgate neighborhood west of the city.

Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies say they found a man and woman dead about 9 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Cherry Road, a few blocks north of Belvedere Road and Palm Beach International Airport.

Guillermo Silva, 57, whose address is listed on the same block, was detained at the crime scene and arrested this morning on two murder charges and one charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

The sheriff's office declined to identify the victims, saying their family had invoked their rights to privacy under a 2018 state constitutional amendment modeled on California's Marsy's Law.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Teri Barbera said that the victims were both related to Silva and described the homicides as "domestic-related."

She said each victim appeared to die from "an unknown type of trauma" and that detectives were awaiting an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

Records show Silva lived in a small lime-green house on Cherry Road with a chain-link fence and a wooden pergola in the entryway.

No one answered the door at the home Sunday afternoon. A neighbor said she saw sheriff's vehicles on the street Saturday evening but did not see or hear anything suspicious before then.

The neighbor said she did not know Silva or anyone else who lived in the home.

Silva, who was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday morning with a swollen left eye, is being held without bail.

The deaths are the 53rd and 54th confirmed homicides this year in Palm Beach County, according to a Palm Beach Post homicide database.
