Accidents kill pedestrians in Cherry Hill, Washington Twp. and Willingboro

A Philadelphia man is accused of leaving the scene of a fatal accident on Thanksgiving Day.

Three pedestrians died on South Jersey highways over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, including the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Cherry Hill, police say.

Deadly accidents also occurred in Washington Township, where a 78-year-old woman was struck on Sunday night, and in Willingboro, where a 44-year-old man lost his life Friday.

The Cherry Hill accident occurred around 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25 on Route 70 near the shopping complex at the former Garden State Park, according to Cherry Hill police.

The victim, 29-year-old Tabreia Ewing of Camden, was crossing the westbound lanes when she was struck by a dark-colored vehicle near the highway's median, police said in a statement Tuesday.

The westbound driver did not stop.

The accident victim was spotted on the highway's grassy median around 11:35 a.m. Friday. The discovery led to the closing of westbound Route 70 between Haddonfield Road and Garden State Boulevard.

In Washington Township, a 78-year-old woman was struck as she tried to cross Route 42 at Ganttown Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The victim, Joanne Perry of Glendora, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reported no injuries to the driver, 44-year-old Arthur McCoy of Philadelphia.

The accident closed the intersection for about three hours, according to Washington Township police.

In Willingboro, 44-year-old Baljit Singh was hit by a vehicle on Route 130 near Pennypacker Drive at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Singh, a Willingboro resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the Willingboro accident concluded with no charges being filed against the driver, Willingboro police said Monday.
