Wichita Falls police have released the identity of the man murdered Saturday in Wichita Falls, according to a media release.
Jorge Gonzalez, 23, was found deceased in a parking lot in the 1500 block of North Eighth Street after police responded to a shooting close to 5 p.m., Wichita Falls public information officer Jeff Hughes said in a media release Sunday.
Information and evidence were collected at the scene, and as a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant for murder has been issued for Adan Chavez, 23, Hughes said.
Chavez was still at large as of Sunday morning, and the investigation is ongoing, according to Hughes.
Wichita Falls police are requesting that anyone with any information on Chavez's location should contact the Wichita Falls Police Department at 940-720-5000 or call Wichita Falls Crime Stoppers at 940-322-9888, Hughes said.
Chavez should be considered to be armed and dangerous, Hughes said.
At about 4:51 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of gunshots fired in the area of Central Freeway and North Eighth Street, Hughes said in a media release Saturday evening.
They found Gonzalez in the parking lot of a Dollar Saver in the 700 block of Central Freeway, Hughes said. Detectives began a murder investigation.
Police believed the shooting was an isolated incident, Hughes said.
Wichita Falls police also released photos of Chavez on Sunday afternoon.
