Jarvis is charged with improper relationship between an educator and a student in connection with a Dec. 7, 2017, allegation, according to court records.

The charge carries a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison.

Jarvis' music teacher certification for early childhood through the 12th grade is valid through May 31, 2022, but a probe by the Texas Education Agency Educator Investigations Division is pending, according to the online SBEC database of certified teachers.

Jarvis is accused of having sex with a female student in a closet that contained old choir robes while he was the choir director at Wichita Falls High School, according to allegations in court records.

A now-former student told a Texas Ranger that she and Jarvis were romantically involved and had sex, according to allegations in court records.

Jarvis was arrested Sept. 4, 2020, and was indicted in March 2021 for the charge, according to court documents.

He resigned from his position with WFISD, and his final date of employment with the district was May 29, 2021, according to the district.

His base salary was $52,128 and totaled about $59,753 with stipends included, according to WFISD.

Jarvis was placed on paid administrative leave the week before his arrest when district officials were made aware of a Texas Rangers' investigation, according to WFISD officials.

Jarvis was to remain on leave while WFISD completed its own internal investigation after his arrest, according to a Sept. 4, 2020, media release.

Citing the confidentiality of employee records, WFISD officials did not disclose information regarding the internal investigation.
