While Enokk Vimahi started in place of Matthew Jones at right guard for Ohio State in its 45-23 loss to Michigan, it was Josh Fryar who saw the larger role.

Fryar, a redshirt sophomore who has also been a backup at right tackle, lined up for 62 out of 78 snaps in the interior of the offensive line, according to data from Pro Football Focus. He rotated behind Vimahi as soon as the Buckeyes’ second drive on Saturday. Vimahi played 16 snaps.

In the previous week's win at Maryland, Jones went down in the fourth quarter and appeared to hurt his foot or ankle. He was walking on crutches with his right foot taped up.

Other reserves saw elevated roles against the Wolverines, including running back Chip Trayanum and cornerback JK Johnson.

Trayanum spelled Miyan Williams, who was not at full strength after injuring his right ankle two weeks earlier. He led the Buckeyes in rushing with 83 yards on 14 carries and played more snaps than any other back with 34.

In the secondary, Johnson stepped in for Cameron Brown in the second quarter and would see 33 snaps, more than the 24 that went to Brown. It was unclear what prompted Brown to be sidelined. He had been dealing with a knee injury earlier this season.

Below is PFF's weekly rundown of snaps counts for the Buckeyes from both sides of the ball.
