Planet Fitness coming to Lebanon

Mar. 8—Planet Fitness, a 24-hour fitness club, is coming to Lebanon in the former Big Lots building at 2425 N. Lebanon St.

Matt Jackson, with the Jackson Investment Group, said the gym is expected to open in November. Jackson said his brother Bart represented the tenant and the lease is 13,175 square feet. There is still a bit of unoccupied space between the Tractor Supply Company and the new gym.

Planet Fitness has more than 2,000 locations around the world. This would be the first franchise in Boone County.

The company is known for its sponsorship of television's "The Biggest Loser" and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve."

Planet Fitness opened in 1992 in New Hampshire. It bills itself as a "Judgement Free Zone," and typically offers rates of $10 a month with a $39 annual fee. According to Wikipedia, Planet Fitness offers members a higher tiered membership called a black card for $22.99 a month.

Many locations offer black card amenities such as tanning booths, massage chairs, red light therapy and water massage beds. It is not clear if all or any of those will be offered at the Lebanon location.
